 Saying good-bye to a loved one . . .

Treasure the memories.
Don't cry because it's over.  Smile because it happened.  Dr. Seuss

We understand that letting go is part of loving someone.  Knowing when to put your own feelings aside and think of your pet's health and quality of life first and foremost is a tough part of loving a pet.  As pet owners we all come to this bridge.  While only you, the pet owner, can make that final decision please know that the staff at Carolina Crossing Veterinary Clinic is here to help.

An exam, brief or extensive, will need to be scheduled so that adequate time is allowed.  You will be asked if the decision is definite or if you need more information concerning your pet's condition.  If euthanasia is elected, you will be asked about body care.  You may choose to take your pet home and bury him or her in an appropriate place, like a favorite spot in the garden.  Our staff will talk with you about preparing the body so that burial will be easier.  We offer pet caskets made of lightweight material in different sizes.

If you choose to have us care for your pet's body, we will contact
Faithful Friends, a pet cremation service.  This is a local service provider with an excellent reputation for taking gentle care of your pet and understanding the grief of pet owners.  Faithful Friends offers communal service which gives you the peace of mind knowing tender care was taken with your loved one through the very end.   Faithful Friends also offers a return of your pet's cremated remains, which are sealed and placed in a velvet Rainbow Bridge  pouch.   Your pet's after care will be handled within 48-72 hours in most cases, whether receiving remains or opting for communal body care.

Deciding to be present for your pet's passing or to say good-bye beforehand will be needed prior to the actual procedure.  Our staff finds no fault in either decision and we will explain the euthanasia process so you will know what to expect.  Payment arrangements are best made upon your arrival, prior to seeing the veterinarian.  We have found that most pet owners prefer to be with family, friends or alone in thoughts of favorite memories once the pet has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
We want to remove as much difficulty and anxiety as possible from both the client and the pet.  We are here to answer your questions, so please call us.
